“Kildare Village Have done something really special. Michael is such a tenacious student and so passionate, but very particular and hyper professional. And [the Kildare Village Fashion Bursary] gave him such security” - Zowie Broach, Head of Fashion, RCA

Michael's standout collection drew inspiration from ancient civilisations and cultures, referencing archaic Irish and world ceremonies and rituals. Conceptually exploring themes of identity, birth and spirituality, he expresses his ideas through a rigorous design approach that places craft and analog techniques at the forefront of his practice.

My work employs elements of form and silhouette borrowed from these early objects and also pays homage to the craft techniques used to make them; Studying at the RCA has been an intense, rigours two years and its been really informative for me because I feel like I have shaped an identity. Its been really important that I’ve been able to manage everything with the support of Kildare Village” - Michael Stewart, Kildare Village Fashion Bursary recipient

We are delighted to announce that the Village will continue this unique opportunity for emerging Irish talent, supporting a second Irish student to complete the MA in Fashion Womenswear Design at the RCA in September 2017.

Kildare Village are not just sponsoring one person. They are sponsoring something…. that we all believe in as the future

- Zowie Broach, Head of Fashion, RCA
