The Kildare Village Fashion Scholarship is the only support of its kind available to Irish students to further their design education at one of the most prestigious fashion colleges in the world. The es-teemed MFA programme, tuition and facilities at the RCA provide a unique opportunity for stu-dents to reach their full potential in a challenging global industry.

The Kildare Village Fashion Scholarship supports exceptional Irish fashion design talent with post-graduate study at the Royal College of Art, London.

Working closely with the RCA, Kildare Village discover and support original voices in Irish fashion contributing to a native design culture and encouraging engagement with a sustainable future in fashion.

Andrew Bell is the current recipient of the Kildare Village Fashion Scholarship (2017-2019). Born in Drogheda, his work is instinctively linked to the rich heritage and culture of Ireland. His design process finds reflections in the people, places and experience of his home.

The inaugural Kildare Village Fashion Bursary of €15,000 was awarded to designer Michael Stew-art who graduated from the RCA in June 2017. His highly acclaimed collection was hailed as “The Future of Couture” by AnOther magazine, identifying him as one of Ireland’s most promising fash-ion talents to emerge on the international stage.

Michael’s standout collection drew inspiration from ancient Irish and world cultures, ceremony and rituals. He expresses his ideas through a rigorous design approach that places craft techniques at the forefront of his practice.

After graduating in London, Kildare Village showcased Michael Stewart's graduate collection to an Irish audience at the prestigious Douglas Hyde Gallery venue in Trinity College Dublin.

The Kildare Village Fashion Scholarship supports the next generation of Irish fashion designers, forming part of a visionary international programme from Value Retail to nurture and re-frame the future of fashion through education, business mentoring and sustainable practice.
